oh carrie

no lush (acrylic + watercolour + india ink on wood)
details:

a new painting done on wednesday night. very warm when i look at it now and noticed that she slightly resembles carrie bradshaw. of course that was totally something i was not aiming for but it just so happened .... i don't think many will notice, hopefully. besides her style is pure fab. what i enjoyed the most was the texture of wood. when you touch it feels like the skin of a beast, which is strange due to the layers of aged acrylic on it. it's been painted on over and over and over again. there even used to be this pretty bad portrait of nicole krauss that i did when i was sixteen or so. it's an old heavy piece of wood but for now...i think i am done with it. literally. it will be showing at Gallery 1988 San Francisco sometime around June along with some other pieces.
-bye bye

she ties laces very differently

she ties laces very differently

details:

another painting here carrying less clusters of black ink, a bit cleaner then most drawings i have but certainly not the only one.

based off a funny dream i had when i was ten. it had something to do with butter knives, alarm clocks and yo-yos and yellow guns.

and servant girls were kept

yes you were a flower

a painting for the a june group show at g1988 sf. i don't paint much on wood but the texture here was nice to work with. it slightly felt like the days i used to explode all the heads of my characters during highschool (that was sure a phase). [clicke on the images to see them larger]

sketches

i got a new sketch book and started playing with it.

it's weird since most of the time i use my sketch book more like a research-type book.

i add so many pictures, often more then putting in sketches. but ultimately it helps me manage to think of something to paint on the larger final sheets of paper.

i've been going back and forth on what theme i wanted to mess with but the result just kept being the complete opposite of what i planned.

i don't really think of it as a bad thing, though sometimes i do get upset.

i wish i was the type that could just plan it out and then execute it without going haywire. but i don't think that is going to happen any time soon.

i guess that's not how i think. and that's fine. okay, babbling will stop for now. :)
